Abstract

pyrimidine compounds were tested for aluminum corrosion prevention in 1.0 M HCl solutions at 30-60°C using the electrochemical measurement, gravimetric method , scanning electronic microscope analysis, and quantum chemical calculations. The values of inhibitory efficiency discovered using electrochemical and non-electrochemical methods show good agreement. At different temperatures and in the concentration range of 50 to 500 ppm, the inhibitory efficiency for the compounds tested ranged from 42.60 to 91.69 percent. During the adsorption process, these substances bind to the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Some adsorption isotherm and kinetic parameters have been developed and discussed. scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analyze of the metal surface revealed the presence of a thin inhibitory protective layer. Density functional theory was employed in theoretical calculations to forecast some parameters and the outcomes were generally in agreement the findings of experiments.
