Abstract

In this study, new derivatives of guanidine benzothiazole, benzo[d]thiazol-2-yl-carbamidioyl-N,N-dimethylformimidamide (GBC),was synthesized under eco-friendly procedural conditions. These derivatives showed an efficient activity as a corrosion inhibitor for carbon steel in acidic medium. The structure was confirmed using FTIR, 1HNMR and 13C NMR analysis techniques. The corrosion inhibition behavior of the synthesized compound was investigated using electrochemical techniques such as potentiodynamic polarization. Surface morphological features were studied using scanning electron microscope (SEM) coupled with (EDX). DFT theory was studied to compute theoretical parameters that related to the electronic properties of GBC and shows a good correlation with experimental data.
