Abstract

Recent dyes, as result of environmental awareness, eco- friendly products, have reflected on the textile manufacturing. Growing concerns about the environmental impact of synthetic dyes, along with a rising awareness of sustainability, are leading to a renewed interest in using natural dyes and developing new, eco-friendly dyeing techniques. That awareness why the natural product came back to the market of textile industry due to an increasing environmental awareness. This new study aimed to realize the dyeing behavior of wool which dyed with henna as a natural dye. In the beginning the extraction of henna will be studied under different conditions (different PH, temperature, time) then wool fabric will be dyed with henna as natural dye by two different mordant (tannic acid, FeSO4). The study investigated factors that affect the extraction of dye and dyeing processes such as, concentration of dye, dyeing time, dye pH, as well as dyeing temperature. Colour strength (K/S) was measured for dyed samples and all over colour fastness properties values were studied. This research investigated the effectiveness of certain bacteria and fungi against microbes.
