The food processing industry generates wastewater with high levels of organic pollutants. This study investigates the use of continuous flow electrocoagulation (EC) technology to treat industrial wastewater from the Senyorita Food Industry Group in Egypt. The effects of various operating parameters as electrolyte conductivity, current density, electrode configuration, stirring speed, electrode distance, and electrolysis time were examined to determine optimal treatment conditions. Mixed iron and aluminium electrodes were employed. Mixed electrodes materials from iron and aluminum were used. The removal efficiencies achieved for Turbidity, ammonia (NH3), phosphate (PO4-3) and oil and grease were 99%, 93 %, 94 %, and 95 % respectively. The optimizing parameters were initial pH = 8.2, conductivity of 2450 µs/cm, electrode distance = 20 mm, electrolysis time = 10 min, stirring speed = 160 rpm and current density = 8 mA/cm., the electrodes were arranged in monopolar configuration. Energy consumption and electrodes metal mass loss calculated Total practical electrodes consumption was 0.40 kg/m3 which is slightly more than total theoretical electrodes consumption was 0.36 kg/m3, total energy consumption was 0.192 kWh/m³. Total operational cost of the electrocoagulation (EC) process was US $ 0.77/m3. Post-treatment, the wastewater was odorless, clear, and suitable for reuse which will support for achieving in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) particularly SDG 6.3 for enhancing water reuse and resource efficiency and SDG 12.4 for reducing industrial pollution and hazardous waste.
